Creativity and technique

A balance between technique and creativity is what makes great artists great and this balance is what we want you to find in the BYU-H sculpture program. The sculpture facility is designed mostly for working with clay and that's what we do most of the time.

We also encourage a lot of experimentation. There is a whole lot you can do with clay and if there's a technique you want to learn we can teach it to you.

It's fun to learn new techniques and there's plenty of that here, but sometimes you also need to cut loose and get creative.

Many of our class projects encourage you to think of the world as your gallery.

We want you to use anything you can find as your medium and work big. You can find a lot of supplies at an art store, but you can also get  a lot of great art supplies at a hardware store, on the beach, or in your back yard!

You have a unique voice and we want to teach you how to use it. Come out and do something cool, or funny, or weird. We’re into all of that too.
